Welcome, Commander (Official Elite Dangerous Thread)

For Oblivion. And some other stuff, I suppose.

I found a great tip for engineering mats.

If you need wake data, then go to a system where the state is famine, and find the food Distribution Centre. If you just hang out around there, there are almost too many FSD Wakes for you to be able to scan them all.

And if you need components salvaged from transport ships, then do the same, except the system should also be in Anarchy or Lawless.

Then you can destroy all the food delivery ships for the parts you need.

You can find such systems using the in game map filter or by using

https://eddb.io/system?u=1&r=18013&t=37&i=64

(But change the reference system to wherever you are.)

If you are back to Elite tonight, there's a combat bounty community goal, at a station about 70ly from your choice of Low RES, RES, High RES, Haz RES. The other one is already finished.

Yeah, but I'll not be able to remember how to do anything and will die. I'm in.

Remember the doing a Rev?

I did it again (although I had this suspicion that the ship actually left the ground) so later, on another trip, I wrote down the co-ordinates of where I left it. And yet again, I thought I saw it leaving. Went back to my coordinates and sure enough, it wasn't there.

And THEN..

There's a bloody "Recall Ship" option on the SRV control panel all along. Presumably that option only appears once you have traveled far enough away that your ship decides to leave on its own (for some reason).

If you're interested in seeing some sights, but really aren't ever going to spend a few months of your gaming life to go check them out, then you could do a lot worse than check out this (ongoing) video series.

That starts with:

You killed John Wick's Dog's Human, and that human was John Wick.

That's pretty cool. Something to watch on the plane, and make me wish I was at home playing Elite. Yeah, thanks.
