Insert Tagline Here (the official Monster Hunter World thread)

For Oblivion. And some other stuff, I suppose.

Ahhh. I think I came across the info that Tempered monster leave tempered footsteps and other stuff to collect during a hunt that eventually trigger tempered investigations. So if you used up all the tempered hamster investigations without unlocking a new tempered investigation... you are screwed and have to hope for enough tracks in expeditions. I think Arekzz posted a vid on this.

But if that was the whole game, then it was ridiculously easy.

I should at least go through and kill all the monsters in their tempered versions..

@Fien - I shall find the video from Arekzz, cheers. I think Ruri had something too.

This is pretty much it.

Take the numbers with a pinch of salt, my data is minimal;

So if you do a tempered investigation, there is probably a 30-35% chance of finding a new tempered investigation. And a new tempered investigation gets you 4 or 5 (sometimes more) attempts.

So on average, 1 tempered investigation gets you another 1.5. So gradually, the number that you have, starts to increase. I have 5 or 6 different ones now.

And it seems that the chance of you finding one which isn't for the monster that you are currently hunting, is rather high.

Also, you can raise that 1.5 times a little, by deliberately not finding the monster too fast. Let it wander around making footsteps for you to collect.

Having said all that, I'm still not happy with where I'm at because all these investigations are for the easiest monsters. I think there are 3 tiers of monster and all of mine are tier 1. Which means the rewards are almost entirely rank 1 gems. I simply don't need any rank 1 gems. I need some tier 2 investigations but finding the first one is problematic.

I think I can speed up the process by joining some public quests. But I had a quick look last night and everything tempered was for the easiest monsters or the hardest. Nothing tier 2.

I think I have a t2 tempered investigation (Pink Rathian I think) but I haven't done the Bazels yet so my HR isn't high enough for it

I took it fairly easy at the weekend, mainly just filling out the canteen ingredients and doing the endemic life & fishing quests. I killed tempered Barroth a bunch of times though

I used Saturday to clear the main story and Sunday to chill a bit. So fishing quests, canteen additions but nothing spectacular. I think I want to have a go at the Bagelshop this evening. Though I would feel better with some more blast gems to negate the big bangs. Or, more likely, I get blown out of the water by tempered Bagels...

I did the Horizon quest a few times last night. That was the first time I'd joined any SOS PUGs, and it was quite fun. Some crazily high-level players out there.

No sign of any Anjanath Gems or Fangs, so probably going back in at some point this week. Shame they've had to use the random drop mechanic to try and add some longevity, though. So lazy.

I think I came across Bagelshop at some point. Probably a much lower level one than you guys are talking about, but he flew through while me, Mc and Cherra were chasing something else down. Didn't catch his name, but it started with a B.

Got my Horizon/Aloy gear last night. The armour set is definitely better than the other stuff I'd just bought and upgraded to the max, but now I don't have enough spheres to max it out. Bah. Back to the bounties, I guess. The bow's a bit rubbish, but there's an upgraded available that I just need to far some mats for. I don't even have an upgrade option for my other bow yet, as all of the mats are unknown.

I had renewed fun in the game after trying out a Hammer.

It's not great being chain stunned and getting fireballs to the face, from being in front of the monster a lot. But oh so satisfying when it all goes right.

Will see if I still think it's fun when trying something more challenging.

Speaking of challenging, I did the quest to kill tempered Radabaan and Barroth together in the arena. Piece of cake. Well, there was a LOT of roaring. But otherwise, the quests with multiple monsters seem easy if you have some patience to let them get on with it when you can.

Speaking of roaring, I now have 2 x earplugs gems. That's definitely a thing, having earplugs level 5, in a lot of builds I've seen. I could probably try it now that I have 2. More would be better obviously. (You really need 5, so have to use gear with it. Which is going to be Bagel gear, for sure.)

Still waiting on a health booster gem. And I could really use some free element gems with my paralysis hammer.

Nice! The hammer was on my list as well to switch things up. But with a hammer specialist in the making I will try something else. Gunlance or Chargeblade perhaps. I still enjoy the game though I don't know what set to farm or what my long term goal is.

Silly thing... I think I should have made a female character in the beginning. Gear looks a bit shitty and boring on males.

Yeah, the armour is so bulky on the men.

My long term goal - is to actually find a tier 2 tempered investigation. One day my dream will be a reality.

(I watched a video from either Ruri or Arekzz, I forget which. And there was an Event quest which was a tier 2 tempered quest. So, I just need to wait for something like that to come around again. Hopefully it's not hunter rank 50 to do it.)
