Oblivion - Topic Of The Year Edition

For Oblivion. And some other stuff, I suppose.

The reviews are rather good.
So I don't really watch Skill Up any more, on account of not playing The Division (him or me) but I saw this in my feed.

It's like the best review ever. (I mean the highest praise for a game ever, not the quality of the review itself.)

Right, so I need to finish Far Cry this weekend then, so I can trade it for GoW. Result.

i forgot to say we planned to watch "La Casa de Papel" aka "Money Heist" on Netflix

yesterday we did (first episode) which was interesting. i actually tried to follow it in Spanish but i understood just 50% of the words so i went for the italian dubbed version.
What should we do next: Something good, something bad? Bit of both? A bit of both!

Never heard of that one. Will have to check it out.

I watched Devil and Triangle on the train this week. I quite liked Devil, apart from the last minute or so, which was just silly. Triangle was great, but I'd seen it before and it definitely loses some of its impact second time around.

Sold on GoW now, but not going to read/watch any more about it. Might Day 1 it, might not. Depends how I get on with FC5.

So I finished Far Cry 5. I mean, I say finished, but that was a few days ago, and I still played it to nearly 1am this morning. Anyway, my thoughts on it...
  • It's not as much fun as 4. 4 was my first Far Cry game, though, and it really clicked with me.
  • The co-op is pointless. It's still quite fun to mess around and do stuff together, but it feels like you're wasting your time, and just doing things that you're going to have to do again in your own game. I can see why it's so hard to get right in a game like this, with so many different paths you can take through the game, it must be almost impossible to handle.
  • It looks AMAZING. Like properly AMAZING. I've been tempted to get a PS4 Pro a few times recently, but if the trusty old PS4 can still impress me this much, I really don't need to just yet.
  • I liked the 3 zones. They were different enough to keep things interesting.
  • The side quests are all suitably different as well. Even the Prepper Stash things have enough variety in them.
  • I didn't like the forced story missions that happened at seemingly random moments. I had one cut in when I was flying a helicopter. Makes no sense.
The ending:
Spoiler!
Liked it. Sure, it's bleak as all hell, but it's pretty spectacular to play through, and let's be honest, the whole game is bleak and miserable. The drive through the burning trees/deer etc. is really well done.

Going back to Wildlands for my co-op fix, and will probably get God of War to play next on my own. Just need to finish all those FC5 side-quests before Friday.

But if you trade it in for GoW, how are you going to play the map I made?

I've not loaded Arcade, and hadn't planned to. I saw a thing on Google saying it was the worst multi-player shit-fest of an after-thought they'd ever seen. Might not have been on Google.

Can we play it tonight? Is it AMAZING?

No.

No.

You should try Arcade anyway. Go to featured (you are at featured by default) and pick the Lost City for something cool and challenging. It's an Outpost map. There was one that was clearly meant to be The Last of Us. That was a journey. It was ok but it was just too easy.

Anyway, those 2 things should give you an idea of the possibilities.
