Oblivion - Topic Of The Year Edition

For Oblivion. And some other stuff, I suppose.

Haven't seen Bone Tomahawk myself.

I think I recently spoke about Hostiles. I can't remember what I said but it was probably something along the lines of, it's fine. And it reminded me of some other recent western. That I couldn't remember the name of. And was also fine. And I still can't remember the name of the other one..

But anyway that's not the point of talking about it..

The point, is that it turns out, unknown by me at the time, that Mrs Troy liked it so much that it's now in her top 10 films of all time list.

And some friends of ours watched it on her recommendation, I'm not sure about the guy, and I'm not even sure if the woman liked it, but what I do know is that it made her cry.

So yeah there you go. Mrs Troy's taste is good enough that she shares 2 of the same top 10 as me. So make of that what you will.

Personally, it's just fine.

You could also just watch the man with no name trilogy and ascertain whether it does indeed follow the rule of each film is better than the last. Which was going to be the answer to that perfect film series that we had recently that no one cared to talk about..

And the best Western of course is Tombstone but you've probably seen that 20 times.
You killed John Wick's Dog's Human, and that human was John Wick.

Cheers.

Hostiles is on my list, but I’ve never got around to it. Bale can be quite hard work to watch sometimes, I find. I’ve also not watched 3:10 To Yuma again because I don’t enjoy Russell Crowe. Will definitely check it out though.

I’ve not seen Tombstone for a while and TMWNN trilogy for ages. All ready for a re-watch.

Even tempted by that Robert Redford series on a Netflix. Maybe something for the commute if I need a break from TNG.

I didn't know what that was. So obviously I internetted it. And still don't know what it is. There's... no such thing?

It's this one, although it's just called The West in the UK:

Anyway, in searching for that link I saw some reviews, and they all said it was awful. Sold!

the series features exclusive interviews with notable names from classic Western films, including Robert Redford

Not really what I had in mind for my Robert Redford Western.

I've never seen There Will be Blood. Is that the best film I've never seen now that I've seen The Princess Bride? It's not actually a Western is it?

:D

It's literally called "Robert Redford's The West" on Netflix, which is the only place I'd heard of it.

I've never seen There Will Be Blood, either. Can't be any good then, can it?

Anyway, enough of that. I went to see this at lunchtime, and it was aces:

Is it a Japanese take on all those Twilight teen power book adaptations in the west? Or is it good enough for everyone to be interested?

It's Korean, and it's very cool. Although it takes a long time to get there, and you kinda do wonder where it's going in the middle, the pay-off in the last half an hour is just spectacular. There's an awful lot of blood everywhere, so not really a teen-movie.

Where are we meant to find The Witch? I can't find anything about a theatrical release in the West. And nothing about digital or dvd either.

Daredevil s3 in less than a month. Haven't even finished Iron Fist yet!
