Oblivion - Topic Of The Year Edition

For Oblivion. And some other stuff, I suppose.

Kingdom is a Korean tv series coming to Netflix (perhaps funded by Netflix, not sure) that is a zombie apocalypse thing, except it's in Feudal Japan. Or similar. I think I read that it's based on some manga of the same name but I don't know anything about that.

Anyway, it looks incredible. At least in terms of production quality.

Hang on, there was a new trailer the other day.

It's not based on the manga. Some webcomic thing called Land of the Gods.

Unsurprisingly, being a South Korean production, it's not set in Feudal Japan either. It's in Korea.

Damn, that looks right up my alley.

I might need to watch some TV! Yikes.

Watched the new Halloween last night.

I think they did a decent job creating the right tone but there really wasn't anything there that would make me recommend it to anyone.

Also some of the acting was shocking. I'm not sure why they used such a budget cast. Surely people were going to see it regardless.

But yeah, I wouldn't bother. It's a 5 from me.

Watched Bird Box last night. I thought it was excellent, and really loved the opening 20 minutes or so. I see what you mean about it just being Spoiler, Troy. I hadn't picked up on that at all from the trailers. Just needed more Marky Mark.

Also re-watched Ant Man and the Wasp this weekend. Had a properly good sleep in the middle of that, and don't think I missed anything important.

Agree on the first 20 minutes. Not so much the ending but it's not terrible either. It's decent. And the acting was decent.

I can't decide if it's a good thing that they never explain anything. Or show us anything. Maybe it is.. Maybe I was harsh with my 6.

But what I would say, is that if you liked it, you really need to watch It Comes at Night. I keep saying it, because it's still true.

We went to see Bumblebee. Maybe it's not saying much, but it's easily the best Transformers film. And I didn't mind the first one. The first 5 minutes I was thinking - what have I done? This is garbage. But it turned out fine.

John Cena was annoying though. I actually thought he was fine enough as an actor (have I seen him in anything else? I don't think so). But his character was so bad.

It probably makes my 2018 film list actually. Better than some those 6s on there. Probably just a 7 though.

Fine, I'll watch It Comes At Night, then. Fine.

Can't believe you went to see Bumble Bee instead of Spider-Verse, though. That's madness. I'm still tempted to see it, but I don't think it's cinema-worthy.

As explained previously, Spiderverse is dubbed here.

There's no way I can understand normal speed spoken Danish to a level where I will follow anything. It's bad enough when it's subtitled.

Oh yeah. That sucks. I guess they don't do original language showings, when 90% of movies are shown in original language anyway.

It's fine. They only do it for kids stuff.

And they do original language showings in Copenhagen. Which I could have done yesterday. But the traffic is annoying during the day.
